General Information
Description of ServiceOperates public transit service throughout San Diego County with three trolley lines and almost 100 bus routes. Provides information about public transit services throughout the county. Offers phone-based or online trip planning. Operates The Transit Store, which has bus, trolley, and coaster passes; senior, and disabled transit identification cards; and a lost and found department. Passes may be bought online. Offers a school safety program to educate preschool through high school students about the Metropolitan Transit System and safety in the various transit environments. Safety presentations are also available to community groups. MTS is also the taxicab administrator for the cities of San Diego, El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Poway, and Santee.

Intake ProcedureCall or go online. Walk in a Transit Store at 102 Broadway, corner of First Avenue, in San Diego. To ride for reduced fare on buses, show the driver proper ID, pay your cash fare or show your monthly pass. On the trolley, purchase your ticket from the vending machine in advance of boarding and show it or your monthly pass and proper ID to the fare inspector upon request.

Helpful TipsIf riders do not have one of the forms of ID listed, transit ID cards are available at The Transit Store for seniors and persons with disabilities for $6.00.
